Purpose:
The Tim Gaskin Legacy Foundation Shooting Sports Scholarship aims to support and develop the next generation of competitive shooters by reducing financial barriers, providing access to high-quality equipment, increasing training opportunities, and establishing community mentorship within the United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA).
Scholarship Overview
Recipient will receive:
- A 5-year paid USPSA membership.
- A complete competition shooting rig, including:
- Firearm (approved for competition division)
- Magazines and baseplates
- Optic (if applicable to division)
- Competition belt, holster, and magazine holders
- Two professional training classes to establish a foundation in safety, marksmanship, and competitive fundamentals.
- An annual $500 training voucher for three years, redeemable toward certified instruction, competition fees, or advanced skill development courses from the foundation's list of accredited instructors (Proof of approved usage will be verified before the next voucher is distributed).
Estimated value: $2,500 (initial package) + $1,500 (3-year training support)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Be between the ages of 13 and 25 years old at the time of application.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in competitive shooting and personal development.
- Exhibit qualities of sportsmanship, discipline, and community leadership.
- Be willing to represent the Tim Gaskin Legacy Foundation and its mission in a positive manner at local, regional, or national competitions.
- Commit to safe and responsible firearm ownership and handling.
Application Requirements
- Completed application form (below).
- Personal statement (250–500 words) describing interest in competitive shooting, personal goals, and how the scholarship will impact your growth and development.
- Letter of recommendation from a coach, mentor, teacher, or community leader.
- Optional: documentation of competition history or participation in firearms safety or shooting events.
Recipient Expectations
Recipient is expected to:
- Participate in at least six sanctioned matches per year.
- Submit an annual progress summary to the Foundation, highlighting training, match participation, and lessons learned.
- Uphold the values of brotherhood, sportsmanship, and personal excellence that define the Tim Gaskin Legacy Foundation.
